Calling WHO's Dr's!! Anyone suffer bad reaction to insect bites?
Nipped again on the golf course this weekend by something. Although not sure what it was that drew blood!! My fault this time as I didn't spray the Jungle Juice that usually keeps these little predators away although in my defence I thought a 2pm tee off would be early enough to avoid the dusk mites!

As usual after this sort of episode right leg becomes inflamed, itches horribly from ankle to hip, tight shiny red skin with my calf muscle feeling like it's going to explode and pain like a football injury which is always worse upon standing from a reclining in front of the TV position! Creams are hopeless just seeming to add a burning sensation and the usual hopeless advice from the pharmacist is a regular dose of Piriton! Only thing I find helps is an ice pack attached by tubigrip which does allow me to finally drift off itch free!!

Left leg, also bitten, is, well, it itches a bit!!

What on earth is this all about?! Every time this occurs my right leg feels like it's in boiling oil but the left sort of just has this normal reaction. The medical profession seem stumped and no-one seems to have a clue as to why one leg reacts and the other doesn't. Had the foot pulses checked so nowt to do with circulation..

Anyone else have this strange double reaction to bites and do any of you have a working treatment to an allergic reaction that you have had so I may end this bleeding bi monthly routine from the golf course?!?!

I was bitten last summer at football training near the river wandle in Wandsworth, it poisoned my blood making my leg very hot and inflamed, went to A&E and had to havs 3 antibiotic drips over 3 days.

Horse fly bites are by far the worst. Bitey cunts

I got a bad bed bug rash after staying in a shit hotel once. I found the antihistamines you get in boots cleared it right up for a few hours.

I usually get them bad in UK. I find the best preventative is Avon Skin So Soft. Not actually marketed as a Mossie repellant but is very effective. Stops about 90 Percent.

When I get bitten by insects they come up like Golf balls...

Obviously try and protect yourself with the usual sprays.

However if bitten the best thing is Hc45. This is the version E45 but with hydrocortisone which stops itching and the swelling I absoloutely swear by this and never leave home without it when going abroad.

Tried Piriton and all that never worked for me.

I suffer really bad and usually get done on the golf course if I don't spray jungle juice. My whole calf swells and I need ice on it, hydroquarterzone cream and antibiotics. Happens 2 or 3 times a years. Mosquitos and Horse Flies mainly.

Strange thing is, I go abroad and get bit and it hardly effects me but over here I'm in a real bad way!

Cheers for the suggestions fellas. Creams including anthisan don't work as they seem to just warm it up.

It's calming down now after 4 days as per usual but I really just don't understand why I can get bitten on both legs but everytime the right one reacts but the left one doesn't?

Make a cross in the middle of the swelling with your index- finger nail then dab a bit of toothpaste onto it.

I had a similar reaction after walking barefoot in Richmond Park earlier this summer.

You need to go to your GP - sounds like it is infected, in which case you need antibiotics.

Anthisan cream is good for bites, if you can get it on within about ten minutes of being bitten. It's an antihistamine.

Thats more likely a mozzie bite, perfectly normal when you get rain and warmth (above 15 deg).

The mozzies are feeding on something that is irritating you, it could be quite distasteful.

A citrus oil around your ankles, wrists and neck may prevent the bites (citronella).

Use calamine lotion or any cheap sunburn cream to help with the symptoms, even doc leaves can help to soothe the burning.

I get the same problem, and use anti-histamine like piraton before going into places where midges or mozzies might be.

zico, do yourself some homemade lemon water and have a spray before you play......

What you will need…
•6 lemons, or you can use a mix of citrus
•1 quart of water (.95 litre)
•1 pot
•1 spray bottle

Preparation
•Cut the lemons and/or other citrus fruit in half;
•Place the cut fruit and 1 quart of water in a pot;
•Bring to a boil and then allow too steep for two hours;
•Allow the resulting liquid to cool;
•Once cool, strain the liquid to remove any pulp;
•Pour the resulting liquid into a spray bottle

This is no midge bite, my friend.

I reckon it's nothing to do with the bite on the golf course and in FACT what you have there is a guinea worm infestation.

Bottle of gin for the pain, pen-knife, lolly stick, and a bit of patience is all that's needed.

It was nice knowing you.
